Working Mens Club

Cycling through the conflicting emotions that come from living in a society that’s set itself on fire, ‘Working Men’s Club’ is an attention-demanding debut album that couldn’t have come at a better time. Hope, despair, destruction and the desire for new beginnings, their chaotic energy makes perfect sense in these strange times”. N.M.E

Founding member, lead singer & writer Syd Minsky-Sargeant’s influences are refreshingly diverse for one so young. From post punk bands such as The Fall and Joy Division, to Jeff Mills, Kim Gordon & early 90’s dance music, the band’s music & debut album is shot through with an angry energy and dancefloor awareness that also permeates Syd’s DJ sets.

As a live band they cut their teeth supporting bands such as Fat White Family and the Liminanas creating a buzz that was only momentarily dampened by the album’s release during lockdown. Having already been booked to support New Order and Hot Chip at Manchester’s Heaton Park this September it’s clear their onward journey is set to be pretty comfortable.

Syd’s recognition as a talented DJ in his own right has also earned him a spot at Moscoman’s new weekly London residency and numerous club gigs around the UK. You can hear his latest mix here.
