12 Dec Ask For Help!
Christmas can be a stressful time of year for many. Expectations of that “perfect” Christmas are often unrealistic or unobtainable and spending more time with close family can aggravate latent tensions that lie undisturbed for most of the year. The festive period is also known to exacerbates loneliness for those who aren’t surrounded by loved ones and it can pile extra pressure on people dealing with issues of depression and anxiety
2019 brought about a welcome new focus on mental health issues, with workplaces and schools inviting organisations such as Minds At Work and writers like Black Door’s Kevin Braddock to speak about their own journey to recovery and to push the important message that the first step is to Ask for Help.
Kevin’s book “Ask for Help” is described as “An honest guide to depression and anxiety, from rock bottom to recovery, from someone who has been through it and come out the other side” and is a useful guide for those who are having trouble making that first step. Along with Kevin’s first book “Torchlight Systems: Storytelling for Recovery his main focus has been on providing ways and means to find your way through periods of poor mental health including his own unique set of practice cards.
